Dennis Nice – “Our God is not a God of Confusion”
How have you been building? In Matthew 7:24-29, Jesus tells the parable of two people who were building houses. Both had heard the words of Jesus, but only one was being obedient to those words. Jesus said that one was building on sand and the other on solid rock! I think you can guess which was which.
Jesus makes clear here that hearing and obeying is the equivalent of building on rock that can’t be washed away when the rains and floods come crashing in. So it is in our life circumstances. When we press in to Jesus and listen for his voice, his word can be trusted to hold us firm and secure in the midst of the storms of life , and it is up to us to take action on those words.
Worshiping together in the context of a larger body provides benefits and protections to us that would otherwise be missing in difficult times. Sometimes we need the help of others to hear God’s voice clearly for our lives. There is safety in a multitude of counselors. There is Spirit-led wisdom residing in the hearts of our caring brothers and sisters. Bottom line; we need each other!
I would like to invite you to come worship with us if you have no other church home. I think you will find TVCF to be a caring and encouraging place to navigate the challenges of this life. We are on an exciting journey of discovery together, pursuing the purposes and plans of God for our lives. We would love to have you join us!
